This year I decided to perform major maintenance on my Murray 500E lawn mower. The engine was not running right and I knew it needed either the spark plug cleaned or a new one. I decided that after 10 years or so it was not a bad idea to get a new one. I checked the owners manual and ordered their recommended part. A plug made by champion.
This is how I removed the old plug, gapped and installed a new spark plug. I made sure it was gapped to .020 inches and used my trusty spark plug gap tool that I have had since I was a teenager. I tightened the plug to the manufacturer’s recommended torque using a new torque rachet wrench.
